Eurythmy Teacher for 2008-2009

We are seeking a fulltime pedagogical Eurythmist for grades K – 7.  Our ideal candidate will be able to continue successfully nurturing an interest in lower school Eurythmy for our students. You will work with 2 other Eurythmy colleagues (in the high school and therapeutically) and have available for your classes, a dedicated Eurythmy room/performance space and a skilled piano accompanist.

Fourth Grade Teacher begining Fall 2008

We are currently seeking a class teacher for the 4th grade for the upcoming school year.  The qualified candidate must have completed their Waldorf teacher training (candidates without this will not be considered) in addition to having received their Bachelor’s degree.  The current class has 25 students and the successful candidate will be able to bring a sense of warmth and artistic expression into the classroom for these children, while being able to balance the academics as well.  Previous experience taking a class through 8th grade is preferred.  We have a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental and life insurance; retirement fund (funded partially by the school); tuition remission; a strong mentoring and professional development program; and a flexible spending account.  Our pay structure begins at $40,000 and has incremental increases based upon your years of full-time teaching experience.  We also offer relocation assistance.

English Teacher

This part-time position is for one year only (2008-2009) to teach high school English and an 8th grade Debate class.  The high school classes include 9th grade Fundamentals of English, 10th grade Speech, and 11th grade Poetry. It may also include some College Essay writing advisement and review.  An enthusiastic knowledge of writing and speech is required as well as experience teaching adolescents.

Class Teacher Assistants
 

Highland Hall Waldorf School is seeking to fill two (2) Class Teaching Assistant positions. One will be responsible for assisting in the 1st grade and the other will assist in Grades 2-8 as determined by the Class Teachers in those grades. The positions are designed to serve as training opportunities for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career as a Waldorf Class Teacher. This is a one-year position. This assistant will need to reapply annually.

 The responsibilities of the 1st Grade Class Assistant position will be to assist the Lead Teacher in daily activities including, but not limited to, leading a small group of children under teacher supervision; preparing and cleaning according to teacher’s direction; supervising snack and lunch; supervising transitions upon request; supervise bathroom breaks; yard duty, and other duties as requested.  
 
The qualified candidate for this position will have completed a minimum of one year of Waldorf teacher training, have the intention of becoming a Waldorf teacher, have familiarity with the curriculum, and be actively pursuing the completion of their Waldorf training certificate.
 
In addition, the qualified candidate will have excellent math and English skills (both written and verbal); demonstrated ability to take initiative; the ability to relate well to children; good interpersonal skills; and the ability to support and implement the routines and rituals of the Class Teacher. 
 
We are seeking candidates who have a demonstrated desire to learn about the Waldorf curriculum; are able to meet with Class Teachers for meetings/mentoring sessions; are organized, punctual and able to follow direction.
 Prior experience working with children is strongly desired.
 
The requirements for the LS Assistant who supports Grades 2-8 are the same. In addition, the qualified candidate for this role must be able to successfully interact with children at different age levels and be able to make the transition between grades very quickly. This candidate must be able to take direction from several teachers on any given day and have a proven ability for follow-through.
 
The LS Assistant will do all of the duties as the 1st Grade Assistant,  as well as correcting papers according to the Class Teacher’s need. This position requires the flexibility to be available from 8:10am – 3:10pm until the schedule is set by the beginning of the school year.
