Early Childhood Center - Aftercare room

Parents of children of all ages are invited to join us on Fridays, from 8:30 to 10 am, for a cozy gathering with tea/coffee and cookies in the Early Childhood Center's aftercare room.  Each week an article will be selected for study and discussion.  The gathering is intended to help deepen our understanding of Waldorf education and other areas of interest as part of our rich community at Highland Hall. Parents are welcome to submit discussion tops via our suggestion box outside of the main office.

The Parent Circle will be lead by Tischia Bluske, a Waldorf early childhood educator.  From time to time other Waldorf teachers will also join in our discussions. The group will not meet on Fridays when there is a P.A. meeting.  Please rsvp to [email protected].

January 16 & January 23: Workshop and Book Study with Co-Authors Bari Borsky and Judith Haney

Are you finding it difficult to understand your child? Do you feel frustrated because you often end up in an argument but are not sure about how you got there? Authentic Parenting can help. By gaining insight into how your temperament and your child’s temperament could be in conflict with each other, you can learn how to work with both yourself and your child to head off misunderstandings, explosive emotions, and sulking, as you help your child learn to manage challenges associated with their temperament .  During this workshop and book study, we will discuss how to identify your child’s temperament, give tips for tailoring disciplinary techniques so your child really hears you, and provide suggestions for helping your boy or girl feel safe and secure.

Authentic Parenting will help guide us as parents to bring out the best in both our children and ourselves. The authors have provided an invaluable resource for all parents and educators. Please join co-authors Bari and Judith as we discuss this important book together and engage in an active exploration of using these important perspectives to become more effective parents.
