Academics Enriched by the Arts

Highland Hall offers an academically rigorous, developmental approach to education which integrates the arts in all academic disciplines. Our curriculum is college preparatory, and our graduates are accepted into many of the finest colleges and universities. Our experienced faculty is committed to educational excellence in a school environment that respects cultural diversity and individual differences.

In Waldorf schools, curiosity and a passion for learning is fostered in an environment where cooperation is valued over competition. Our school prepares students to be flexible, creative problem solvers who are able to impart purpose and meaning in their lives.

The Waldorf Approach in Education

At the heart of the Waldorf approach is the recognition that children pass through distinct stages of development, and that both the subject matter and the way it is taught need to be age-specific to the growing child. Rather than simply imparting intellectual information, Waldorf education seeks to engage the whole child in the learning process.  The arts are integrated into every subject, using movement, music, storytelling, and rhythm to bring the material to life and endow the child with a lifelong sense of wonder and a joy of learning.

100+ Years of Waldorf Education

The first Waldorf school was founded in 1919 in Stuttgart, Germany, by Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925), the visionary Austrian educator, scientist and philosopher.  Waldorf Education is an independent school movement with over 1,100 Waldorf schools worldwide in more than 64 countries.

Highland Hall is a non-sectarian school & an accredited member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA).
