Eurythmy Reading Assignments 2020-2021

 

9th Grade Second Quarter Eurythmy Track:

At Highland Hall, each grade takes three quarters of English and one quarter of eurythmy. During the eurythmy track, students will read two books: one choice from the book list and one required book. The book report on the book of choice will be due the first day of the third quarter English track that follows eurythmy (they will have practiced using this format during their first English track); the test on the required book will take place during the first week of the English track that follows eurythmy.

Reading assignments to be read during the 9th grade Eurythmy Track (2nd quarter):

  1. Fahrenheit 451 - by Ray Bradbury (no written report)
  2. A book of choice from the 9th grade book list. Students will write a five-paragraph book report. See Book Report Guidelines.
 

10th Grade Fourth Quarter Eurythmy Track:

At Highland Hall, each grade takes three quarters of English and one quarter of eurythmy. For the 10th grade, eurythmy takes place during the fourth quarter.  During the eurythmy track, students will read two books: one choice from the book list and one required book. The book report on the book of choice will be due the Tuesday study hall of the last week of school, and the test on the required book will take place the same day. The grades for the reports will become part of the first English track in the 11th grade.

Reading assignments for 10th grade Eurythmy Track (4th Quarter):

  1. The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald (no written report)
  2. A book of choice from the 10th grade book list. A written report is required. See Book Report Guidelines.
 

11th Grade Third Quarter Eurythmy Track:

At Highland Hall, each grade takes three quarters of English and one quarter of eurythmy.  During the eurythmy track, students will read two books: one choice from the book list and one required book. The book report on the book of choice will be due the first day of the fourth quarter English track that follows eurythmy; the test on the required book will take place during the first week of the English track. For the 11th grade, the Eurythmy Track occurs in the third quarter.

 

Reading assignments for 11th grade Eurythmy Track (3rd quarter):

  1. Autobiography of Malcolm X – Malcolm X as told to Alex Haley (no written report)
  2. A book of choice from the 11th grade book list. A written book report is required. See Book Report Guidelines.
 

12th Grade 1st Quarter Eurythmy Track:

At Highland Hall, each grade takes three quarters of English and one quarter of eurythmy.  During the eurythmy track, students will read two required books.  They will be tested on the books the first day of the second quarter English track that follows eurythmy. For the 12th grade, the Eurythmy Track occurs in the first quarter.

  1. 1984 – by George Orwell (test - no written report)
  2. One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich – by Alexander Solzhenitsin (test- no written report)
