Laura Watkins

Why do I choose Waldorf education?
"I choose Waldorf because I want my children, and all children, to grow up as thoughtful, ethical, fair minded people who can adapt to any situation with a combination of critical and creative thinking."

Laura graduated from Jacksonville University as a Piano and Voice Performance Major and promptly began her career as a composer and Private Piano and Voice teacher. Through it all, her other passion was always working with her hands. Inspired by her mother, who was a master quilter and crocheter, and her father who is a woodworker, she had many artistic side businesses from mosaic design to creating afghans. When her children reached school age she discovered Waldorf Education and assisted in the handwork classes. When a teaching position opened up, she jumped in and has been teaching Handwork for 6 years. She will graduate from her Practical Arts teacher training in 2019. She is delighted to join the faculty at Highland Hall as a handwork teacher.
