Waldorf 101
Join us for an all day workshop to explore the Waldorf Curriculum from early childhood through high school. It includes a discussion of Rudolf Steiner’s insights in human development and a look into the anthroposophical underpinnings of Waldorf education.
9:00- 10:00 Morning Lecture: The roots of Waldorf Education:
The story of Waldorf Education - how it all started, who was Rudolf Steiner, what is anthroposophy, how is it related to Waldorf Education. We will take a close look at the developmental picture of human development which informs all of Waldorf teaching.
10:30-11:00 Snack Break (provided by WISC & Highland Hall)
11:00- 12:00 Eurythmy through the Grades
12:00-1:15 pm Lecture: Meeting the Growing Child
A discussion/presentation on pedagogical topics from early childhood through elementary grades, including: Waldorf approach to literacy from EC through the early grades, movement/play/work as foundations for future learning, discovering how milestones in child development can be supported by curricular choices ("9- and 12-year changes").
1:15-2:15 LUNCH Included in workshop fee
2:15-3:30 Drawing Through the Grades with Anna Silber
3:40-4:40 Encountering Waldorf High School with Terra Malmstrom
A presentation to discover how the curriculum is supports the development of the adolescent.
4:45-5:30 Question and Answer Panel
The workshop is open to all--and especially recommended for newer parents, teachers, and anyone interested in education.
$50 workshop fee includes snack, lunch (with vegan and gluten free options) and supplies. Discount for students and teachers-- $25 fee.
