Sara Maun

I was born and raised in Los Angeles and am happy to still call it home with my family and many pets.  I love crafting, cooking and taking walks in beautiful places.  I attended Sarah Lawrence College for my BA with a focus in both Visual Arts and History, and developed a great love of studying history.  I received my CA Credential from UCLA’s social justice education program and taught in LAUSD before discovering Waldorf Education.  Once I did, I joined the founding faculty of Ocean Charter School and began my Waldorf studies at WISC. During that time, I received my Waldorf Certification from WISC and an MA in Education through a joint program by Touro University and Rudolf Steiner College.  My focus was on the effectiveness of developing literacy through play and the Waldorf approach in the early grades.  After the arrival of my first child and a big move over the hill to the SF Valley, I joined Highland Hall as an early childhood teacher in both Kindergarten and Preschool for 9 years.  My most recent work has been working with a homeschool charter and homeschoolers in grades TK-12th.  I am thrilled to join Highland Hall again as the first grade teacher and begin the journey through the grades with my class.
