Highland Hall Waldorf School’s Early Childhood Center is situated in a serene, park like location in Northridge, California. Our Center offers several Parent and Child classes as well as a comprehensive Nursery and Kindergarten program. Young children (ages one year through two years six months) and a parent are invited to attend a once weekly Parent and Child class. Under the gentle guidance of a skilled teacher, the classes strive to create and model a calm, joyful, rhythmic and nurturing environment for children and families. The morning includes creative free play in the warm and inviting classroom, a fun interactive circle time which includes seasonal songs and movement activities, followed by a delicious and nutritious snack.

Parents are given the opportunity to meet other parents and share experiences and observations. Together the teacher and families are able to build a foundation of friendship and community that supports the growth of their children. Parents are encouraged to ask questions and learn about Waldorf Education. The teacher provides numerous articles related to child development and serves as a resource for the needs of families and children.

The Parent and Child Program classes are taught by Elizabeth Shahbazi. Mrs. Shahbazi has an MS in Educational Psychology and she has also completed the RIE™ I (Resources for Infant Educarers) training. She has been an Early Childhood Educator for over thirty years and her teaching is dedicated to consulting with and offering care, guidance and support to families as they strive to raise healthy children.  Mrs. Shahbazi's work is based on the principles of Waldorf Education, the teachings of Magda Gerber (founder of RIE™), and the work of Dr. Emmi Pikler.
