The Owl’s Nest Aftercare Program in our Early Childhood Center is seeking a teacher to lead the afterschool care program. We are looking for someone with a calm, quiet demeanor who is interested in a non-academic, developmental, nurturing approach to early childhood education. The school seeks candidates that are either Waldorf trained, enrolled in a training program for Waldorf certification, or interested in learning more about Waldorf Pedagogy. Candidates shall have a minimum of 12 ECE units. The part-time position requires the individual to be present each school day from 2:45 pm until the last child is picked up and all tasks are completed. Pick-up ends at 6:00 pm. Possible substitution during the regular school day may be needed. The lead aftercare teacher works under the direction of the Early Childhood Center’s lead teachers to support and facilitate a harmonious and nurturing environment for the children in their care. The primary responsibilities include:

• participating in the transition from the regular school day into the aftercare program
• planning, set up, and carrying out the activities, snack times, and circle gatherings during aftercare program hours
• providing supervision of play both indoors and outdoors
• checking school email daily to keep track of any requests for aftercare the next school day
• maintaining attendance records
• communicating directly with the morning lead teachers in addressing the needs of a child or family
• making certain all classroom and play areas used are clean and neat for the next day

Not eligible
To be considered, candidates must have experience working with children ages 3 to 6 years old in a group setting. Candidates must have completed 6 early childhood education (ECE) units and be enrolled in at least two units each semester of employment until they have completed 12 ECE units. All state required vaccines must be current as well as having current TB test results. Candidate must also be CPR certified. Candidate must provide proof of Child Abuse Prevention-Reporting training. Candidate must undergo Live Scan (fingerprinting) and a background check prior to being hired.
Pay range is $15.50 - $18.00 per hour depending on experience.
